Mambo Italiano & Abracadabra Litters Update

Both the moms and all the puppies are doing well.  Lizzie has taken over nursing one of Bella's pups, Alfredo, to even out teat competition.  Both moms are active in checking on and sniffing and cleaning each others' puppies - one big happy family.  They seem to like having each other to help.

Some of the Mambo Italiano pups have started eating solid (canned) food already!  Penne was the first to try solid food and is eating it like a champ.

Eyes on the Mambo Italiano pups are just starting to open - with Biscotti coming in first with her right eye all the way open this morning.  (For those who've not ever watched puppy eyes opening, they start with just the slightest slits at the corners opening, and gradually open more and more over a few hours or even a day or two, depending on the puppy.)  This means we won't be doing any flash pictures for awhile, to protect those newly opened, sensitive eyes.

The Mambo pups are also attempting to stand on wobbly legs and take a few steps across the whelping box.

The Abracadabra Litter also continues to thrive.  Mojo is even bigger than a few of Bella's puppies!  Little Mystic and JuJu are holding their own with their big brothers.  They have adopted their cousin Alfredo like a brother and all like to cuddle and snuggle together.  These pups take after their mom, Lizzie, who likes to bury herself in blankets and bedding.  They tunnel under their fleece bedding regularly.

The highlight of the day for the entire pack is when we do daily weigh-ins for the pups.  They all gather around and sniff and snuffle the babies...and try to snuffle & sniff the scales while Ken is weighing each individual pup.  It's quite a production.

I know you're all clamoring for new pics, so here ya go:

We've been commenting on how quiet and sleepy Bella's pups are in the mornings...Imagine our surprise when we discovered the reason - They've been partying all night!
