05/08/15: PUPPIES!!!

Polli's got 5 bouncing little bundles - once again she's got 4 boys; 1 girl.
So far:

1:35pm; 345grams:  Solid blue fawn boy w/ blue mask.  Looks just like his brother, Mouse, from the Matrix litter last January!

2:20pm; 346 grams:  Blue & white boy - marked a lot like his mamma.

2:29pm; 322grams:  Solid blue girl.  Looks just like sister Trinity from the Matrix litter.

2:53pm; 368 grams:  Blue fawn & white boy.  Really gorgeous color!  Cool white neck and blaze and stockings.

4:10pm; 400 grams:  Blue fawn & white boy.  Cute white neck patch, blaze and stockings.  FOUR HUNDRED GRAMS...it's a new record for us!

05/07/15 Update...Just when you thought Polli couldn't get any rounder....

Mama Dog Update

Polli's up to 25 and a half inches around and is definitely getting somewhat uncomfortable with all those pups wiggling around.  Any day now...

She's still in a good mood, but taking lots of naps and eating lots of small meals - storing up energy for the big event.  :)

Lychee's at work with Ken, so I'll try to update pics of her soon, as well.

The Horsetooth Pack:

The rest of the pack seems to know pups are coming soon.  They were interested to see the puppy whelping kennel being put up in the living room earlier this week.  They all seem pretty relaxed and mellow about the whole ordeal:

Mama Dogs, X-rays, and some fun past pup brags and pics...

What a week!  Polli and Lychee both had their x-rays done on Friday.  Both moms are doing great, and we're thinking end of this week for whelping dates.

 Polliwog's been to this movie...she knows how it ends; and she is excited and happy about puppies.  She's been in a great mood all week!

Polli's x-ray - looks like she's got 5 again (she magically has had 5 pups - 4 boys, 1 girl in every litter she's ever had)...she's clearly one for consistency.  

We'll see if we manage to have any more girls this time!

Next up, we've got Trixie Belle (HT Squirrel Nut Zipper), bird watching?  Cat watching?  There is definitely something out there!

First up - Misu (HT Tiramisu Frangelico) had 15 seconds of fame in a news story on ticks & Lyme disease.  She did very well demonstrating that dogs need to be checked daily if they are out in tick-heavy locations.  We'll add the link as soon as we can.

Next up, Cato (HT Shanghai Tofu) got his Novice Barn Hunt title this past week.  Congratulations, Ellen & Cato!  Ellen originally wanted Cato to be a flyball dog.  He didn't take to that sport, but has done just about every other sport and activity she's put him to - he races, lure courses, barn hunts, has tried his hand at dock diving, and more!  We couldn't be more proud of this dynamic duo.

And finally, it looks like Omar & Kima (HT Oh Henry & HT Skittles) had a blast at the 2015 Furry Scury - Omar reportedly did GREAT on his first time on the lure:

04/28/15 Past puppy Pupdate

First up, we've got Luigi (HT Morpheus of Zion), snuggling with his best buddy, Mario...Luigi's on the right side of the pic. :

Luigi's family reports that he's a world-class snuggler!

Next up, we've got Heath (HT Heath Bar) and True (HT Gummi Bear), hiking at Deadhorse Point:

These two boys crossed 8 streams on this hike...apparently Heath was more interested in jumping over them than going through them.  :)

And who would have figured that 2 whippets moving from Colorado to California would need new coats?  But sure enough, Waffle (HT Hot Toddy) & Wilco (HT Rigatoni Sorrentino) have found their new digs to be a bit chilly.  Here they are sporting new coats from Winston's Winter Wear:

Waffle & Wilco's mom reports that they were excited to get coats in the mail that not only smelled like Colorado...but smelled like their whippet family members.  We're sure those coats got a royal sniffing over!

New Puppies Expected Soon...plus, more Past Pupdate Pics!

Puppies!

We're excited to announce that it's official!

Both Lychee Berry and Polliwog are expecting pups in May, and we couldn't be more excited about these breedings.  We thought it would be fun to see some pics of them as pups themselves....

Lychee and Chewy (first-time litter for both) should produce pups that are a mix of gorgeous show quality looks and competitive in lure coursing and racing.  Both parents are exceptionally affectionate and smart.  We're expecting rich dark red and red brindle pups, with lots of white trim, and could even get a few extreme white with red or red brindle patches.

Polli and Johnson's litter is a repeat of our wonderful Matrix Litter breeding from last year.  They produced such sweet, intelligent, and beautiful pups, we wanted to try again!  These pups will all be either blue or blue fawn - with the possibilities of solid patterns, and parti- or pie-bald pups as well.

How is it possible that the very first puppies from Horsetooth are already 5 years old?  

When they were first born, they reminded us of the shape & size of Taco Bell Burritos.  Then they quickly grew to the size of Chipotle Burritos.  Hence, we nicknamed them 'Charm Quark and the Flying Burrito Brothers'.  They will always hold a special place in our hearts.
