They're Here! Introducing the "W is for Whippet" Litter

The "'W' is for Whippet" Litter has arrived...  Seven healthy, happy puppies!  We've got 4 girls and 3 boys.  All are eating well and mama Lychee is very happy.

It'll be hard to tell for a day or two exactly what colors there are - all are either brindle or red, but brindling will take a while to really show up, and the shades of red will most likely vary quite a bit from light fawn to dark red like Lychee.  The red variations develop and change a lot over the first few months, and even throughout the first year!

We've snapped a few pics to get things rolling - excuse our 'mess' as these were taken even before we got Lychee and the bedding all cleaned up after whelping:

We just looked in the whelping pool and saw all the solids together, and all the extreme white pups together.  Funny coincidence!

We'll add individual pics soon, but here's the birth order & weights and descriptions:

1.  Wingnut - Extreme White Female - Red patches on ears/face, and one brindle(?) patch on left shoulder.  Born at 2:05 p.m.  Weight:  233 grams

2.  Andy Warhol - Extreme White Male - Brindle patch on top of head - rest of body white.  Born at 2:42 p.m.  Weight:  300 grams

3.  Wilson - Exteme White Male - no discernible colored patches at all.  This is the first completely white pup we've ever had.  He may eventually develop some polka dots on his ears, but we'll see.  Born at 2:44 p.m.  Weight:  241 grams

4.  Wombat - Solid Red Male - Black Mask.  White diamond on his chest, and back toes are white-tipped.  Born at 2:53 p.m.  Weight:  296 grams

5.  Whiplash - Extreme White Female - Large Brindle patch from left ear all the way down left side of neck to her left shoulder.  Right ear is Brindle.  1/2 of her tail is also Brindle.  Born at 3:03 p.m.  Weight:  258 grams

6.  Whimsy - Solid Red Female - Black Mask.  White chin, white "butterfly" on chest; all toes are white tipped.  Born at 3:17 p.m.  Weight:  277 grams

7.  Whoopi - Solid Red Female - Black Mask.  White diamond on her chest; all toes are white tipped except far right toe on right front foot, which is black.  Born at 4:16 p.m.  Weight:  266 grams
