The day I dreaded for so long
has finally
come and gone.
The anticipation
of your death
was just as bad
(or worse?)
than your actual passing.
In the end,
you were glassy eyed
but peace filled.
And your heart -
which was supposed to
be so fragile and weak,
kept beating
long after your
labored breathing ceased.
You were born on a Monday.
You died on a Thursday.
And my heart will
ache for you
forever.
