This week has been full of 'firsts':
First car rides - the pups travel to and from Jen's work in puppy crates. This begins to get them used to car travel, as well as being crate trained very early! Right now, they all fit into one small crate, but as the weeks pass, they'll expand into 2, 3, 4 and more! The commute is about 1.5 hours or so, and at this age, they just sleep, but in a few weeks, they'll be serenading Jen and the adult whippets a good part of the drive to work.
First days at work - mom and pups have a whelping kennel & pool set up in Jen's office, and all settled right in easily this week.
First nail trim - today, the pups had their first nail trim! Jen waited until they were nice and sleepy and then snip, snip! This is the first litter we've decided to leave dewclaws on - after recent research into their usefulness, and that leaving them on may actually prevent early arthritis in the wrist joints. Since the whippet standard does not require them to be removed for the show ring, we wanted to see if there is truly a difference - on or off!
The pups have nearly doubled in size over their first week, and all of them now weigh in at a pound or more. (Little Brie just hit 1lb today!)
They're still quite dark, as to color, though their stripes and variation in shades are coming out more and more (at least enough for us to tell them apart pretty easily)...and so, on to some pics:

The gang's all here! You can tell how warm it is by how spread out these guys are. It's too hot to cuddle!
