Risotto wins the prize for first tail wag. On Saturday morning when he saw Ken, he came walking right across the whelping pool to him, with his tail wagging in recognition! When he got there, we was all a-wiggle, wanting human snuggles.
This morning, Alfredo actually perked his ears up at me. (These steps may seem small, but when you think about it - just last week, their eyes weren't even open, they could barely stand for more than a second or two, and they had no muscle control over their ears!)
The Abracadabra pups should start popping baby blue eyes open in the next few days. JuJu is the first to be thinking about it - she has the inner corner of one eye starting to open today.
All pups got their nails trimmed today (first time for the Abracadabra litter; second for the Mambo Italianos)...no small undertaking, when you've got 14 wriggly pups with 224 toenails to cut! :) I was able to get most of them while they were sleeping or nursing.
We've begun litterbox training on the Mambo Italiano litter, and will start the same for the Abracadabras this week.
